The new project aims to provide educational support, guidance and information for the Afghanistan Diaspora in Europe and promotes human rights in Afghanistan.
The issue of Human Rights still plays a major role in the demise of our people and the ongoing war appears to have no end. It is obvious that in order to move forward in a very optimistic manner we have to understand that the situation will not change until all those involved in the war come together, around the table, and resolve their differences forever.
All the problems can only be solved by Afghanistanis themselves with the support from UN/EU and it is only when everyone is prepared to sit down at the table and talk, will all the issues and differences be resolved. One must be mindful of the fact that historically it is good business to be at war for some countries in the region that seek to benefit from it. It is essential that any peace talks should only take place with the citizens of Afghanistan, although it would be advantageous to allow the participation of neighbouring countries who have a more balance understanding of regional issues.
One must urge the international community to allow the people of Afghanistan to seek its own peace settlement as only the people of Afghanistan know all the many issues and differences that are at stake and how best to resolve them. Before moving on to the issue of Human Rights, it is also vital that any constitution or new constitution should only be written by the people of Afghanistan. In enforcing this is obviously important as it also constitutes a violation of Human Rights if the people of Afghanistan are not allowed to create their own constitution and future.

We aim to undertake a media project in Afghanistan which is relevant to the global objective as it strengthens the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform through a weekly radio programme, training for journalists and civil society forums. This project will aim to address improving human rights in Afghanistan, strengthening civil society and the independent media, enhancing the opportunities for marginalised groups to take part in political debate and to learn about human rights in an accessible format.
The ECHRA is currently taking on volunteers, in particular Media and Events volunteers. If you would like to join the campaign please email your cv and covering letter to Dr Nooralhaq Nasimi: nooralhaqnasimi@btinternet.com.
